Muse is no stranger to covering other artists’ songs. While we’re used to their renditions of “Feel Good” and “Creep,” we’re pretty confident no one expected the British prog rock trio to crank out a tribute to Slipknot. However, this is exactly what happened when the band included a snippet of the Iowa metalheads’ hit “Duality” during their performance at the Isle of Wight festival in Newport, England on June 19.
However, with the first teases of their new album “Will of the People” featuring some heavy riffing, it’s no surprise to hear Matt Bellamy and co include a nod to some of the greatest rock and metal hits, including “Back in Black” by AC/DC, “Know Your Enemy” by Rage Against the Machine, “Foxey Lady” by Jimi Hendrix and “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses, along with the Slipknot snippet.
