Paradise Lost Share New Track “Silence Like The Grave,” Announce “Ascension”

British gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost have announced their long-awaited 17th studio album, Ascension, set for release on September 19, 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records. The album marks the band’s first full-length effort in five years following 2020’s critically lauded Obsidian, and once again reaffirms their position as one of the most enduring and influential acts in heavy music.

Ascension was produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh and mixed/mastered by Lawrence Mackrory (known for his work with bands such as Katatonia and Bloodbath). Written and recorded at Black Planet Studios in East Yorkshire, UK, as well as NBS and Wasteland Studios in Sweden, the album is said to embody the band’s signature hybrid of gothic, death, and doom metal, while pushing their sound into even darker and more sorrowful territory.

To accompany the announcement, Paradise Lost have unveiled the album’s lead single and music video, “Silence Like The Grave”, offering fans their first taste of Ascension‘s melancholic and weighty sonic landscape.

The full tracklist for Ascension is as follows:

  1. Serpent On The Cross
  2. Tyrants Serenade
  3. Salvation
  4. Silence Like The Grave
  5. Lay A Wreath Upon The World
  6. Diluvium
  7. Savage Days
  8. Sirens
  9. Deceivers
  10. The Precipice

Ascension promises to be a defining chapter in Paradise Lost’s storied discography – a descent into gloom that’s both hauntingly poetic and musically relentless. With over 35 years of influence under their belt, Paradise Lost show no signs of fading into silence.
