Nightwish vocalist Floor Jansen lends her voice to “We’ll Never Know”, the heartbreaking centerpiece of Arjen Anthony Lucassen’s newly announced solo album “Songs No One Will Hear”. Due out September 12, 2025 via InsideOut Music, the record marks Lucassen’s first solo outing in 13 years and is framed as a cinematic farewell to humanity.
Lucassen describes the song as “by far the saddest and most emotional” on the album. It tells the story of a couple expecting a daughter just as the world nears collapse, a tragedy that resonated deeply with Jansen, herself a mother. “She put her heart and soul into it,” Lucassen notes. “You can clearly hear it.”
“Songs No One Will Hear” promises more intimate, melancholic songwriting than Lucassen’s larger-than-life Ayreon and Star One projects, with “We’ll Never Know” offering a chilling glimpse into its emotional core.
