Two of modern metal’s most compelling live acts are joining forces this spring. Infected Rain and Butcher Babies have announced the Mutation Phase Tour 2026, a co-headline run sweeping across the UK and Europe, with Szene Wien on the bill for April 20.

The pairing makes a lot of sense on paper and should be even better in practice. Infected Rain, led by the ferocious Lena Scissorhands, have built one of the most devoted followings in the modern metal underground through relentless touring and a stage presence that is genuinely hard to match. The band is currently in a transitional phase between albums, which means the Vienna show offers something relatively rare: a career-spanning set with glimpses of new material woven in. A moment in flux, captured live.

Butcher Babies bring a different but complementary energy. Their fusion of thrash, groove, and melodic heaviness has fuelled high-octane shows across the world for years, and the band continues to evolve with each release. With Heidi Shepherd holding down frontwoman duties, they remain one of the most dynamic live acts in the genre.

Support across the run comes from Lithuania’s Black Spikes, whose recently released EP NIL has been turning heads with its heavier modern metal sound.

The tour touches Vienna about two-thirds of the way through the European leg, following dates in Hungary and preceding the run up through Poland and Scandinavia.
